Repair or Replace?

Should You Have Your Damaged Windshield Repaired or Replaced? Here's how to decide.

  1. Is the damage in your direct field of vision? Repairs will often cause some amount of distortion which can impair a driver’s view of the road if within their line of sight.
  2. How large and deep is the damage? Generally speaking, windshield chips and cracks smaller than the size of a quarter can be repaired. If the damage is deep enough to penetrate through all of the layers of the windshield, it is too deep to perform a repair.
  3. Is the vehicle's safety comprimised by the damage? The windshield is responsible for up to 60% of structural support in the event of a vehicle rollover. If the damage extends to the outer edge of the glass, there is a greater chance that the structural integrity of the windshield has been compromised. If this is the case then it is likely that the windshield will need to be replaced. Also, some modern vehicles with automated driver assistance systems (ADAS) utilize sensors that may not be compatible with repairs. Our professionals can advise you if this is the case with your vehicle.
